Bali
Bali is of course the most popular of places to visit in Indonesia and although the island is very small it has huge amounts of character and charm.

The Istiqlal Mosque
This is the largest mosque in South East Asia and has stood proudly since 1975. If you climb to the top floor of this fabulous mosque you can experience a stunning view of the 120,000 people that have come to pray.
This is definitely one of the more moving places in Indonesia, and will open your mind up to different cultures and religions.
Sulawesi
Sulawesi is one of the larger islands in Indonesia and is very popular for tourists to visit.
There are 8 different national parks in the area, which ensure that the native flora and fauna are kept safe. As well as the plants on Sulawesi there is a huge selection of different native animals and birds.
All of these can be admired and explored; this island is truly magnificent.
Lake Toba
Lake Toba is one of the places to visit in Indonesia and is the largest volcanic lake in the world.
The people who live in the area directly surrounding the lake are fascinating and their houses are unique. The climate is very nice in this area and is the perfect place to escape the midday heat.
You will be able to explore the lake easily and the views are magnificent from every angle.
Jakarta
This is the Capitol City and not where you would imagine would be one of the top places in Indonesia. However, you will be pleasantly surprised by the amount of things to see, and do here.
The National Museum is to be found in the city; this is a great place to explore and begin to understand some of the intriguing history that surrounds Indonesia.
There is also a breathtaking display of Chinese ceramics dating back to the Ming Dynasty.
Pulau Weh
Pulau Weh is extraordinary and will give you an insight into real life in Indonesia.
Although this area of Indonesia is not that well promoted it is still one of the places to visit in Indonesia. The beaches are quaint and the locals use them on a daily basis.
The weather can be wetter in this part of Indonesia, so ensure that you come fully prepared.
